Girl, you’re “FLAWLESS”

Hi friends!

I’m excited to be starting my “Friday Favorites”! I thought it would be helpful to create a blog post with all the goooood stuff (tips, specifics, links, how-to’s, etc) so you can refer back to anything you want to find.

Can you guess what this week’s “favorite” is? Starts with flaw and ends with less.

Flaw. Less.

Flawless.

I never noticed the opposite effect the word had. Many of us see others and think “She is flawless, they are flawless, he is flawless” and then we look at ourself and we think “I have so many flaws, I hate my flaws” and “I am less than her, I am less than them, I am less”. Yet, you are being seen as flawless in another’s eyes. Why do we do this to ourselves?! No one is flawless, but everyone has amazing things that make them, THEM.

I WANT YOU TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND FIND ONE THING YOU LOVE ABOUT YOURSELF. Focus on that!

This week I am focusing on something that makes ME feel confident, and that is looking sun-kissed.

The problem is, my job has me indoors most days. I don’t use tanning beds because duh, skin cancer, so the next best thing is a SELF TANNER!!

I have tried Many different self tanners that have made me feel sticky for hours, orange, or stinky.  But the one I always come back to is Flawless Fake Bake. It’s basically a unicorn in a bottle, especially for the price.I love it for these reasons:

  1. It’s never streaky
  2. You look like you just came back from Bachelor in Paradise.
  3. VERY fast drying
  4. Immediate color
  5. Smells tropical
  6. Fast acting
  7. Affordable

AND I FOUND IT FOR YOU FOR $13.50!!!! (Btw that is even cheaper than my cosmetology license store)

(Link comes with spray bottle and mitt applicator)

Simply spray product a few times onto mitt.

Apply it to your desired areas by rubbing the mitt in circular motions.

Be careful to apply to all areas or you’ll have patches without color (you’ll notice, the color is immediate)

I like to apply when I’m fresh out of the shower. DO NOT MOISTURIZE before applying self tanner. It won’t stick and stay on your skin.

Wait 6-8 hours minimum before washing it off. Sometimes I sleep with it on, other times I apply after my morning shower and shower it off later. When you wash off the product, you’ll notice color coming off in shower. That is the immediate bronze the product gives you. Your skin will still keep much of the color, just much more natural. Now you can apply lotion after washing it off.

Here are the links!

  1. Fake Bake Flawless (for fairer skin tones, or for people that want a slight change in color)
  2. Fake Bake Flawless Darker ( I use this, I prefer to look darker)
  3. Swimsuit Stella McCartney (Sold out)

I hope you love it just as much as I do!

Here Comes The Bride

Hi friends!

Summer is here and that means (for us makeup artists) brides…brides… and more BRIDES –  there’s nothing better than that!  I’m always honored to be a part of someone’s special day!

Last week, I put together a fun and quick video (posted below) to show how I create a classic and romantic bridal look. I’ve received many questions about the products used…so, I decided it would be helpful to list everything here rather than on an Instagram post. Most products listed have a link to easily find them on Amazon (I love Amazon Prime!)

Eyes:

  1. Urban Decay Naked Palette I used “Naked” all over crease, “Toasted” all over the lid, and “Sin” right in the center of the lid to create more dimension. I finished off with ‘Buck” on outer crease. If you are going for a more natural look, use Naked and Toasted only.
  2. MAC “Carbon” eyeliner. This gives a softer, yet still defined lash line.
  3. Ardell “Demi Wispies” Lash Strips  These are my all time FAVORITE. They appear natural but have volume to give your lashes that extra pop! I highly recommend these for any photo session!
  4. L’Oreal “Voluminous Carbon Black” Mascara  My hands-down favorite!

Brows:

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills “Brow Wiz”   Thin enough to create natural hair strokes.
  2. Anastasia Beverly Hills “Clear Brow Gel”  Holds eyebrows in place like super glue!  A definite “must have”.

Face:

  1. Lancome “Teint Idole Ultra 24” Foundation This is my only go to for foundation. It’s full coverage and still breathable!
  2. Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer  I love this because it’s quick dying so you don’t have to worry about it being too tacky and thick.
  3. MAC “Dainty” Blush – The perfect soft warmth to bring color to your face!
  4. MAC “Soft and Gentle Highlight” – My favorite highlight for a natural glow.
  5. Urban Decay “All Nighter” Setting Spray – Nothing can compare to this one – it’s like hair spray for your face!

Lips:

  1. MAC “Whirl” Lipliner
  2. L’Oreal “Jennifer Nude” Lipstick  This is an amazing pink for all skin tones, even very fair tones that often pull warmth.

I hope you are able use something from this look! It’s versatile and can be used on anyone – even if you’re not a bride! After all, bridal makeup should only be a polished version of yourself!  🙂

Marisa

Picture Perfect

Hi everyone!

IT’S DECEMBER 1ST! The best month of the entire year! I thought that was a perfect time to start my blog “officially” 🙂

For my first beauty post, I wanted to share a product breakdown of what I think to be the “picture perfect” makeup look. It is natural enough to look soft and effortless in photos, but also enough product that it gives your face proper dimension and color in photos. Do you ever take photos, purposely add more makeup (sometimes thinking you may or may not look like a clown)… get the photos back and look like you didn’t spend all the time that you did?! That has all happened to the best of us!

If you don’t have an upcoming photo shoot- thats okay! This look is beautiful for any event you may attend!

Here are some tips for photos/events that you may be forgetting to think about:

  1. When you think you added enough, add a little bit more. It’ll be stepping out of your comfort level- but oh so worth it. Otherwise an easier option may be hiring a makeup artist and they can help direct you in the right path! Photos basically take off about 30-40% of makeup, so you always want that much more!
  2. False lashes are your best friend. Lashes are the cherry on top! They really help open your eyes. Not too mention, make you look fabulous!
  3. Contouring really is worth trying out! Naturally in photos, your face doesn’t look as dimensional… so by at least adding some contour to your cheekbones it will help bring out your beautiful features.
  4. Highlight your cheekbones, it will bring a radiant glow to your face! My favorite part of each makeup appointment I do is adding that as the finishing touch. It makes you sparkle! (In the best way possible).
  5. Match your foundation to your arms, if they will be showing. Be sure to bring the makeup all the way down your neck or however far to match it to the rest of your body. This trick will prevent you looking washed out. Arms are usually the tannest- so it’ll give you a warm glow on your face.
  6. Although matte lipsticks are in style-  in photos, adding some gloss to the middle of your lips will create a fresh look! It also will help give your lips extra dimension and look more “plump”!
  7. Areas you know get more oily throughout the day, add an extra layer of powder to those areas only, to ensure you stay matte through the whole evening or shoot! I like using translucent powder.

I hope those tips are useful for your upcoming family shoots or holiday parties! Scroll down for what I used to achieve this look 🙂
